The music is very basic melodically and harmonically and was really intended just to be fun, enjoyable listening (and playing). The themes are all quite memorable and I hope appropriate for the season... maybe even any other season. It's in four distinct movements: 1. Holiday Bells, 2. Around the Table, 3. Lullaby on the Night Before, and 4. Celebration. They are all continuous in the recordings. (See my Music Page.) There are arrangements for both orchestra and brass band in addition to this original brass quintet version. Those other arrangements have been slightly expanded in the second movement to take advantage of percussion. This brass quintet is in its original format. The orchestral version, in its original scoring, was premiered on December 5, 2010, by the Eastside Symphony Orchestra in Redmond, Washington, with the composer conducting, and the quintet version followed on December 15, performed by the Black Diamond Brass at St. Columba's Episcopal Church in Kent, Washington. The brass band version was premiered on December 13, 2011, by Brass Band Northwest under Judson Scott at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, Bellevue, Washington.
